FLSA Non-Exempt, Unclassified, Full-Time (35 Hours per week) Salary Range:
$18 to $20 per hour based on experience Job Summary Under the administration and direction of the County Treasurer, this position will be expected to work positively with the public and county staff on a daily basis, be accountable of all monies that flow through the Treasurer's Office, and directly assist the County Treasurer in the operations of all functions of the Treasurer's office.
Essential Knowledge, Abilities and Skills, Education High School diploma or equivalent with some post-secondary coursework or vocational education; Associate's Degree preferred.
Eagerness to serve the public.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to learn and utilize certain computer software, including basic skills with Microsoft Office applications.
Prefer experience handling cash and balancing cash drawer.
Valid Ohio Driver's License.
Essential Functions of the Position 1.
Working with the public and county staff in a friendly and courteous manner on a daily basis.
2.
Accepting and processing real estate and manufactured home tax payments via software system (check/payment scanner).
3.
Efficient and accurate handling of cash transactions, including tax payments and money received daily from all county departments.
4.
Operate with efficiency and accuracy tax software and accounting programs (attention to detail is paramount).
5.
Reconciling and balancing of all transactions daily.
6.
Processing of online banking procedures, including wire transfers, and ACH's.
7.
Semi-annual preparation of real estate and manufactured home tax bills and preparation of delinquent bills.
Lender file preparation and processing.
8.
Daily processing of mail, answering the phone and emails in a pleasant & informative manner assisting attorneys & title companies with tax information.
9.
Work with the Prosecutor's office on collection of delinquent tax accounts.
10.
Setting up and maintaining monthly payment plans and escrow programs.
11.
Keeping the procedure manual current.
12.
Balance Real Estate and Manufactured Home payments and work with the Auditor's office on settlement.
13.
Manage active fund balances and transfer monies as needed.
14.
Misc.
items such as reviewing conveyance forms and foreclosure filings and preparing tax prorations, etc.
15.
Completing any other tasks assigned by the County Treasurer.
Job Location & Hours Work is primarily performed at the Ottawa County Courthouse.
Travel outside the Courthouse is minimal.
Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:
30am to 4:
30pm with a 60-minute unpaid lunch break.
Equipment Used Work is performed in an office environment using computers, calculator, copy machine, fax machine and various types of scanners.
Physical Requirements Successful employees must be able to see and hear to interact with the public and move about the office, waiting on customers at the counter and back-and-forth to their desks.
Critical Skills/Expertise Effective oral and written communication skills; knowledge of Microsoft office programs; accurate data entry skills; ability to use web-based applications for data entry; ability maintain confidentiality of documents and other information; dependable and honest.
Other Responsibilities Other duties may be assigned by the Ottawa County Treasurer as needed and assigned.
